About the role#
As a Reliability/Plant Engineering Intern at the Comanche Generating Plant, you will work alongside our engineering staff to support daily plant operations. This role focuses on troubleshooting equipment issues and analyzing system performance. You will gain hands-on experience by applying engineering fundamentals in a practical utility environment. At the end of the summer, you will present a report summarizing your findings and the work you completed.
What you'll do#
- Monitor equipment, conduct field observations, and perform predictive testing and data analytics to identify potential failures.
- Facilitate failure analytics, including Root Cause Analysis and event learning processes.
- Partner with Plant Operations to implement maintenance strategies and identify high-value maintenance opportunities.
- Assess equipment performance parameters to communicate operational risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Support long-term asset planning for in-service equipment.
- Review and provide feedback on improvement projects during the design, construction, and commissioning phases.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a sophomore or higher as of Fall 2027 at an ABET-accredited college or university.
- Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Chemistry.
- A genuine interest in the energy industry and its future.
- Ability to work full-time during the summer and part-time during the school year.

- Compensation: $21.20 to $23.10 per hour.
