About the role#
The Gas Contracting, Damage Prevention, and Leak Survey Intern provides administrative and project support to the Distribution Operations organization at Xcel Energy. This role offers exposure to utility construction, contractor management, damage prevention programs, and regulatory compliance. You will work alongside Project Managers, Senior Work Coordinators, and Supervisors to support daily operations and project administration.
What you'll do#
- Support Project Managers and operational staff with administrative tasks.
- Maintain project files, work order documentation, and departmental records.
- Track project schedules, milestones, and key deliverables.
- Perform data entry, quality assurance reviews, and document control activities.
- Prepare presentations, spreadsheets, and management reports for leadership.
- Support work order closeout activities and project record management.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Freshman or higher at an accredited college or university as of Fall 2027.
- Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or Finance.
- Ability to work full-time (up to 40 hours per week) during the summer and part-time (up to 20 hours per week) during the school year.
- Ability to commute in-person to the designated work location.
- Preferred: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Preferred: Experience with data analysis or project tracking tools.
- Preferred: Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.

- Term: Summer 2027 (starting May 24, 2027).
- Modality: Hybrid.
- Employment: Paid, full-time summer internship with the possibility of extension.
