About the role#
The Base Capital Project Engineer Intern will join the team at the Pawnee Powerplant in Brush, Colorado. You will work on projects focused on plant safety, reliability, and performance. This role involves working alongside engineers, operators, and maintenance teams on assignments that include field investigations, data analysis, and project execution. You will gain exposure to industrial systems and project management while building your technical and professional skills.
What you'll do#
- Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and reliability improvement initiatives.
- Conduct field inspections, collect equipment data, and assist with engineering investigations.
- Analyze plant performance, emissions, and maintenance data to identify opportunities for improved safety, reliability, and efficiency.
- Use engineering drawings, technical specifications, and operating documentation to identify appropriate hardware.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, contractors, and engineering staff to complete assigned projects and resolve technical challenges.
- Present project findings and recommendations to local leadership.
- Be humble, get involved, contribute where you can, and ask questions.
What you'll need#
- Current student, Sophomore or higher as of Fall 2027.
- Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering.
- Ability to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) and part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week).
- Ability to commute to the work location in-person.
