    About the role#

    As an Area Engineering Electric Distribution Intern, you will work with the engineering staff to support electric reliability, power quality, system protection, and plant betterment. This role focuses on improving the electric distribution system through practical operations experience and mentorship. You will work alongside area engineers, project managers, planners, designers, and operations personnel.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist with distribution system analysis and feeder performance evaluations.
    • Review outage data and reliability metrics, including SAIDI, SAIFI, and CAIDI, to identify trends.
    • Prepare and support Project Planning and Execution submittals.
    • Apply and verify compliance with electric standards, construction practices, and engineering guidelines.
    • Analyze power quality measurements such as voltage, current, flicker, and harmonics.
    • Assist area engineers with capital project tracking and documentation.
    • Prepare technical summaries, reports, and presentations for engineering staff.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment as a sophomore or higher as of Fall 2027 in an ABET accredited college or university.
    • Pursuing a degree in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering.
    • A GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
    • A strong interest in electric power systems and utility operations.
    • Understanding of basic electrical engineering concepts, including three-phase power systems and circuit analysis.
    • Demonstrated ability to use AI and digital productivity tools for data analysis and documentation.
