About the role#
WoodmenLife is seeking a Cybersecurity Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This 10-week program offers hands-on experience within our Information Security department. You will work on projects that support our security posture, gain exposure to corporate operations, and receive mentorship to help prepare for your future career. This is a paid, full-time position based in Omaha.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the planning, design, and implementation of security controls.
- Develop security solutions and process enhancements to address risk and improve efficiency.
- Contribute to security operations automation to increase the speed and effectiveness of security outcomes.
- Conduct security audits on systems and applications, partnering with engineers to validate remediation.
- Support the Third-Party Service Provider program, including risk assessments and documentation.
- Perform research and analysis to support departmental needs and evaluate new security techniques.
- Meet weekly with the Internship Cohort and present a capstone project at the end of the program.
- Shadow various office positions and participate in internal training opportunities.
- Assist with administrative functions and specialized projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in college.
- Pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Ability to work 38.75 hours per week.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively within a team.
- A mindset focused on innovation and DevSecOps.
- A commitment to providing attentive and resourceful customer service.
- Passion for making a positive impact in local communities.
