About the role#
This is a 10-week summer internship based at our home office in Omaha. You will support community outreach and public relations programs aimed at member growth and retention. We provide mentorship and real-world experience to help you prepare for your career.
What you'll do#
- Participate in an intern cohort and professional development activities.
- Present a capstone project summarizing your accomplishments and key learnings.
- Assist with event registration and setup for Family and Senior events.
- Attend local events and document your observations.
- Audit chapter and regional Facebook pages and common bond submissions.
- Observe WeCare, Giving Together, and chapter events to offer process recommendations.
- Conduct competitive analysis of member-based organizations.
- Review marketing materials and provide input on engaging scholarship recipients.
- Participate in planning and vendor calls for the LifesPerks program.
- Create project kits for Giving Together and review Community Champions contest submissions.
- Research financial wellness trends and review marketing materials for financial education.
- Handle daily member transfers and EApp transfers.
- Scan and file documents into the MHC system.
- Follow all company security policies and maintain reliable attendance.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- Commitment to philanthropy and community betterment.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Analytical and organizational skills with the ability to delegate tasks.
- Sound judgment and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to establish rapport and credibility with stakeholders.
- Creative, adaptable, and self-starting attitude.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and generative AI tools.
- Valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
- Experience with cloud-based workflow management systems and social media is preferred.
