About the role#
KBTX News is looking for a Digital Innovation Fellow to join our newsroom. This is a part-time, one-year position where you will work alongside our digital team. You will develop strategies for sharing local news with new audiences and create projects to increase cross-platform viewership.
What you'll do#
- Create strategies for reaching new and nontraditional audiences with local news.
- Craft digital and streaming projects to boost viewership across platforms.
- Produce content for our website, streaming apps, news app, and push alerts.
- Write accurate, AP-style news stories.
- Report breaking news quickly on social media and digital platforms.
- Create engaging social media content.
- Use SEO strategies to improve content reach.
- Collaborate with reporters, editors, and producers to keep digital properties updated.
- Uphold our journalistic standards.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's degree in Journalism or a related field, or be in your final year of a degree program.
- Strong writing and copy-editing skills with an understanding of AP Style.
- Experience with video editing, sourcing, and production.
- Familiarity with content management systems.
- Ability to adjust your strategy based on changing needs.
- Skill in tailoring content for different distribution platforms, including social media.
- Knowledge of current social media trends.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well with others to reach a common goal.
- Schedule flexibility.
