About the role#
This co-op position joins the Applied Research and Technology organization at Collins Aerospace. You will work within a team focused on resilient networked mission systems for aerospace and defense. The role involves moving solutions from the lab into field-ready products.
What you'll do#
- Frame problems and test hypotheses with your team to reach clear demonstration outcomes.
- Implement software or firmware AI algorithms and systems.
- Build and evolve prototypes, including simulations, software, lab setups, and hardware-in-the-loop systems.
- Design and run experiments, then analyze data to iterate on models and concepts.
- Support integration, testing, and demonstration events in the lab, field, or flight.
- Contribute to technical briefings, white papers, and proposals.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an advanced degree program for Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
- Experience planning and executing experiments or evaluations.
- Ability to use data to drive design decisions.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Published research or project work in AI/ML, DSP, networking, or electronic warfare.
- Experience in applied research or advanced development within defense, aerospace, or cyber-physical domains.
- Evidence of technical leadership in multi-disciplinary projects.
- Contributions to patents or publications.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site role based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
- The position operates on a rolling term.
