    About the role#

    The Power Supply and Energy Services team manages the procurement, optimization, and strategic planning of energy resources. As an intern, you will work alongside professionals responsible for managing electric generation assets and supporting wholesale market activities. This role provides hands-on experience with resource planning, energy procurement, and portfolio optimization to help ensure reliable power for our members.

    What you'll do#

    • Analyze power market data from MISO, PJM, and other industry sources.
    • Support capacity planning and resource adequacy assessments.
    • Monitor generation fleet performance and operational metrics.
    • Assist with energy market, transmission, and fuel market analysis.
    • Create reports, dashboards, and presentations for management.
    • Research regulatory, policy, and market developments in the electric industry.
    • Support evaluations for renewable energy, battery storage, and emerging technologies.
    • Assist with forecasting and portfolio optimization projects.
    • Participate in meetings with internal stakeholders and external industry partners.
    • Review market settlements, auction results, and capacity accreditation metrics.
    • Support special projects related to generation development, transmission strategy, and energy procurement.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Energy Systems, Business, or a related field.
    • Must be a rising sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student as of Summer 2027.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work both independently and within a team.
    • Interest in the electric utility or energy industry.
    • Coursework in economics, statistics, energy markets, finance, or power systems.
    • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI.
    • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, SQL, or R.
    • Demonstrated leadership through student organizations, athletics, research, or community involvement.

    Location & details#

    • This is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2027.
    • The position is located on-site in Indianapolis, Indiana.
    • Housing and housing stipends are not provided.
    • We may request transcripts to verify educational qualifications and academic standing.
