About the role#
The Communications & Engagement Internship at Wabash Valley Power Alliance provides hands-on experience in corporate communications, marketing, and employee engagement. You will support our team by creating content, planning events, and managing digital engagement projects. This role offers exposure to the electric cooperative industry and helps you build a professional portfolio through writing, photography, and strategic communication tasks.
What you'll do#
- Draft content for employee newsletters, intranet stories, email communications, and social media posts.
- Conduct interviews with employees and subject matter experts to gather information for articles.
- Assist with photography, video capture, and content gathering at company events and project sites.
- Help create and schedule social media content while tracking performance metrics.
- Support the planning and execution of employee engagement activities and recognition programs.
- Assist with the Member Cooperative Conference, including attendee communications, registration logistics, and event signage.
- Manage stakeholder and media contact lists.
- Research industry trends and communication best practices.
- Organize digital assets, photos, and communication resources.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Digital Media, or Event Management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Comfort interacting with employees, member representatives, and external stakeholders.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, photography, or video editing is a plus.
