About the role#
This is a 9-week internship program running from October 19 to December 11, 2026. You will join the Strategic Systems team to work on component mechanical engineering for roll control systems. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Reno, Nevada.
What you'll do#
- Perform SolidWorks tasks such as entry level mechanical design, drawings, data management, and the creation of toolbox features.
- Assist with integrating and collecting engineering data during lab-based testing.
- Machine and fabricate simple prototype test components.
- Help engineering staff create PowerPoint presentations.
- Reduce engineering test data using Excel and write reports in Word.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program for Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Junior standing by fall 2026.
- Experience with SolidWorks, Ansys, and Microsoft Office tools.
- Working knowledge of mathematical and statistical principles.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel for in-person orientation and the final program presentation.
- Previous internship, coursework, or project experience is preferred.
- Candidates must meet U.S. government space technology export regulations.

- Compensation: $23.50 to $30.00 per hour, depending on academic year, major, and geography.
