About the role#
Leonardo DRS is hiring for Co-Op positions in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. You will work on military and industrial equipment, including steam turbine generator sets and permanent magnet motors. This role offers hands-on experience in the design, analysis, and assembly of large rotating power equipment. You will collaborate with engineers and shop floor personnel to support new product development and continuous improvement projects.
What you'll do#
- Perform stress, vibration, and shock analysis on large rotating power equipment.
- Execute mechanical design tasks for specific components.
- Focus on the manufacturability of equipment and components.
- Develop process designs, tooling, and documentation for engineering changes.
- Coordinate with engineering teams and shop floor staff to ensure project success.
What you'll need#
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Enrollment as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or CAD Drafting Design.
- A minimum GPA of 2.75.
- Experience or coursework in 3D CAD solid modeling and drawing development.
- Familiarity with ASME Y14 standards and tolerancing.
- Proficiency with MS Office.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication skills and an independent, self-starting work ethic.
