About the role#
Leonardo DRS is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer Intern for the Summer 2026 term. You will work with our software engineering team to support technical performance requirements on complex system development programs. This role provides hands-on experience in a professional environment and exposure to how we develop hardware and software for our customers.
What you'll do#
- Work under the direction of the Software Engineering Manager and lead engineers on various activities.
- Write and manage source code using C, C++, C#, Java, or Python.
- Conduct limited scope testing and perform design analysis under supervision.
- Assist engineers with design details and gather data for engineering projects.
- Use MATLAB or Simulink to complete assigned tasks.
- Build professional networks and gain familiarity with engineering methods and practices.
What you'll need#
- Currently a Junior or above in a Bachelor program for Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic knowledge of C, C++, C#, Java, Python, and git.
- Familiarity with Windows, Linux, or a real-time operating system.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office products.
- Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
