About the role#
Saab is seeking engineering students for a paid Mechanical Engineer internship in West Lafayette, Indiana, for the summer of 2027. This role provides hands-on experience within our production support and design organization. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers to gain practical knowledge in aircraft design and manufacturing.
What you'll do#
- Complete a designated project with clear deliverables that provides value to the team.
- Partner with an assigned mentor to receive regular feedback and direction.
- Contribute to the T-7 trainer program by evaluating production non-conformances.
- Develop potential design solutions for current production challenges.
- Learn about the various functions and specialties involved in aircraft design and production.
- Champion company values, including trust, drive, expertise, and support.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited degree program in Mechanical, Computer, Electrical, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering.
- Completion of at least your freshman year by the time of hire.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative on projects.
- A willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
- U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or protected individual status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
- Prior internship or co-op experience is preferred.
