About the role#
Kiewit Power Engineering is hiring a Mechanical Engineer Intern for the summer of 2027. This full-time internship is based at our office in Lenexa, Kansas. You will work with our design team to support infrastructure projects, focusing on power plant systems and equipment.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design of mechanical piping and instrument diagrams for power plant systems.
- Help prepare design calculations and specifications for major equipment like turbines, boilers, and pumps.
- Create mechanical engineering designs, including layouts, design sketches, and conceptual drawings.
- Coordinate with drafters, designers, and other engineers to review project progress and results.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program for Mechanical Engineering.
- A GPA above 3.0 is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A solid work ethic and an interest in the power industry.
- Experience with AFT Fathom or AFT Arrow hydraulic simulation software is a plus.
