About the role#
Therma, a Legence company, is seeking a Mechanical Engineering or Process Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a hands-on, full-time, on-site position based in San Jose, California. You will gain experience in mechanical construction engineering, working alongside licensed engineers on real-world projects.
What you'll do#
- Support the planning, design, analysis, and execution of engineering projects.
- Assist with engineering calculations, data analysis, and technical evaluations.
- Research industry standards, codes, equipment specifications, and best practices.
- Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and presentations.
- Use AutoCAD to develop and review engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Support the design of HVAC, plumbing, piping, utility, and process systems.
- Participate in field visits, site assessments, and construction observations.
- Assist with equipment selection and system sizing.
- Coordinate with project teams, vendors, and contractors.
- Review and organize project data and documentation.
- Contribute to team meetings and problem-solving activities.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Completed at least two years of undergraduate coursework.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exposure to AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or similar engineering design software is preferred.
- Ability to interpret technical information, engineering drawings, and specifications.
- A valid driver's license.
- A commitment to safety, quality, and professional integrity.
