About the role#
This internship provides a hands-on experience in construction management within our Central District. You will participate in field operations for heavy civil, structural concrete, water, and transportation projects. This role is for those committed to the construction industry and ready to work directly on job sites.
What you'll do#
- Perform engineering tasks using standard techniques and resolve technical problems during construction.
- Assist with field engineering, operation planning, cost control, and project scheduling.
- Track quantities, manage material procurement, and handle contract administration.
- Maintain accurate records regarding job progress, costs, and material usage.
- Review plans and specifications to determine material requirements and pricing.
- Coordinate with suppliers to manage and expedite the delivery of materials.
- Investigate reported incidents and recommend solutions.
- Supervise field activities as required.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Ability to work full-time during the summer, typically from May through August.
- Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
- Commitment to safety, ethics, and integrity.
- Ability to access all areas of a construction site in various climates and environments.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends when necessary.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- You must be willing to travel or relocate as business requires.
- Projects are located across Colorado, Tennessee, Nebraska, New Mexico, Montana, Texas, Kentucky, and Louisiana. Specific assignment locations are determined closer to the start date.
