About the role#
Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is hiring an Electrical Engineer Intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will join a team that supports the construction process through design engineering, conceptual design, and electrical calculations. This role focuses on maintaining project standards, meeting client needs, and supporting construction safety.
What you'll do#
- Review wiring diagrams, schematics, data sheets, and related drawings.
- Analyze requirements from engineering standards, contracts, and proposals.
- Prepare basic calculations and drawings according to Kiewit standards.
- Draft equipment specifications for major electrical components.
- Evaluate bids and coordinate equipment contracts with vendors.
- Maintain engineering records and lists.
- Manage cable and raceway data using scheduling software.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, project managers, construction teams, and vendors.
- Learn design standards, engineering codes, and policies.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Junior or senior status is preferred.
- A GPA above 3.0 is preferred.
- Strong interest in power systems engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Willingness to learn department design software.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with a collaborative approach.
- Must be a US citizen with documentation for badge access.
- Ability to pass a security questionnaire and background check.
