    About the role#

    Voyager Technologies is offering a 10-week immersive internship program for the summer of 2027. This full-time, paid position runs from June 7, 2027, to August 13, 2027. You will work on project-based assignments, receive mentorship, and participate in professional development activities. This role requires on-site attendance.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist with mechanical design, development, and analysis for assigned projects.
    • Create and review mechanical models, drawings, specifications, and other engineering artifacts.
    • Define and track engineering requirements.
    • Participate in trade studies and evaluate design concepts.
    • Develop test approaches, fixtures, tooling, and other hardware.
    • Collect, analyze, and present engineering data from testing and evaluation activities.
    • Collaborate with operations, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams.
    • Document mechanical interfaces and communicate technical information.
    • Identify opportunities for design, process, and operational improvements.
    • Participate in engineering reviews, team meetings, and training sessions.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an undergraduate program at an accredited university, specifically in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
    • A solid understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles and design methodology.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
    • Ability to learn and apply new engineering tools and processes.
    • Strong communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
    • Ability to work both independently and within a team.
    • Ability to travel for in-person orientation, program kickoff, and final presentation.
    • Familiarity with mechanical design or CAD software is preferred.
    • Previous experience through internships, coursework, or academic projects is preferred.
    • Hands-on experience with laboratory work, fabrication, testing, or engineering drawings is a plus.
    • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) to comply with U.S. export regulations.

    Location & details#

    • Locations: San Diego, CA; Folsom, CA; Long Beach, CA; Reno, NV; Pittsburgh, PA.
    • Pay: $23.50 to $30.00 per hour, depending on academic year, major, business line, and geography.
