About the role#
Voyager Technologies is seeking a Systems Engineering Intern for a 10-week program during Summer 2027. This role offers hands-on experience with project-based work, mentorship, and professional development. You will support the Systems Engineering team with tasks related to requirements, system architecture, integration, testing, analysis, and technical documentation. This is a full-time, paid position.
What you'll do#
- Assist with defining, reviewing, decomposing, and tracking system-level requirements.
- Support the development and documentation of system architectures, interfaces, and technical specifications.
- Help identify and evaluate technical risks, dependencies, and potential system-level issues.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and cross-functional partners to support system development and integration.
- Support the definition of verification and validation methods for system requirements.
- Assist with developing, reviewing, and executing test plans, procedures, and other verification activities.
- Participate in system integration, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving.
- Support the collection, analysis, and documentation of engineering data and test results.
- Maintain technical documentation and engineering artifacts throughout the development process.
- Participate in engineering reviews, team meetings, and training sessions.
- Contribute ideas for process improvement and engineering efficiency.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited university.
- Preference for degrees in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
- Broad understanding of fundamental engineering principles and systems engineering concepts.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to learn and apply new engineering tools, processes, and methodologies.
- Ability to travel for in-person orientation, program kickoff, and final presentation.
- Familiarity with engineering software, modeling tools, requirements management systems, or programming languages is preferred.
- Experience with requirements development, system integration, testing, or technical documentation is a plus.
- Experience with CAD, electrical design, simulation, Python, MATLAB, or C/C++ is beneficial.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment, prototyping, or experimental testing is an advantage.
Location & details#
- Locations: San Diego, CA; Long Beach, CA; or Pittsburgh, PA.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June 7, 2027, to August 13, 2027).
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $23.50 to $30.00 per hour, depending on academic year, major, and location.
- Eligibility: This role requires compliance with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including ITAR.
