    About the role#

    The Cavalier Marching Band is looking for a student videographer for the Fall 2026 term. You will work with the Director of Bands, the Social Media Committee, and the Visual Media Crew to document the band through video and audio. This role involves filming rehearsals and performances, as well as capturing behind-the-scenes moments. You will gain experience in storytelling, editing, and professional communication while working with professional-grade equipment.

    What you'll do#

    • Attend gameday rehearsals and performances, including pregame and halftime shows.
    • Record field shows from the upper deck and from the field.
    • Capture 2 quarters of in-stands footage in Section 104.
    • Film short, up-close clips during gameday rehearsals at Carr’s Hill Field.
    • Document behind-the-scenes candids like bus rides, meals, and tunnel runs.
    • Coordinate coverage for various events such as the Seven Stars Music Festival and off-Grounds exhibitions.
    • Edit and publish content for the Band’s YouTube channel and Instagram account.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment as a UVA Undergraduate student.
    • Strong videography skills and experience with video editing software.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and stay on schedule.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and a self-motivated approach.
    • An interest in the arts and sharing the stories of student musicians.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Charlottesville, Virginia.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Term: Fall 2026.
    • Employment: Part-time, 10-19 hours per week.
    • Compensation: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour.
    • Federal Work Study (FWS) is possible for this position.
