About the role#
The American University Career Center is hiring a Media and Communications Assistant. This part-time role supports marketing, communications, and promotional efforts for office programs and events. You will gain experience in marketing operations, event promotion, and brand management while helping with various Career Center initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Assist with marketing campaigns and promote programs, events, and services.
- Prepare, print, cut, laminate, and assemble promotional materials like flyers and table signage.
- Distribute and display materials across campus.
- Support event branding and venue setup for workshops and career fairs.
- Manage promotional giveaways and inventory.
- Prepare materials for the front desk and outreach events.
- Photograph events as needed.
- Track media coverage, promotional placements, and online presence.
- Support special projects and administrative communications.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an American University student.
- Federal Work-Study (FWS) eligibility.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and transport promotional materials.
- Availability to start during the first week of the Fall 2026 semester.
- Interest in marketing, communications, public relations, or event management.
- Experience with Canva, Microsoft Office, or Google Workspace.
- Basic photography and social media experience.
- Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and contribute to the team.

- Term: Fall 2026 and Spring 2027.
- Status: Part-time, 7 hours per week.
