    About the role#

    The Library Digital Accessibility Lead manages one of two sub-teams within the UVA Library Digital Accessibility Student Team: Captioning & Transcription or PDF & Document Remediation. This position reports to the Digital Accessibility Specialist and is designed for graduate students interested in accessibility program management and library services.

    What you'll do#

    • Provide day-to-day direction to two undergraduate Assistants, including task assignment and workload pacing.
    • Review all undergraduate output before final submission against quality benchmarks.
    • Perform advanced production work in the assigned captioning or PDF remediation track.
    • Contribute to workflow documentation and onboarding materials for the student team.
    • Support end-of-semester assessment of throughput, quality metrics, and team sustainability.

    What you'll need#

    • Bachelor's degree and current registration as a graduate student.
    • Prior experience with captioning, transcription, or audio/video editing.
    • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Word accessibility features, or HTML and document structure concepts.
    • Ability to work in Computer Science or Media Studies related fields.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Charlottesville, Virginia.
    • Work Modality: Hybrid and on-site options available.
    • Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week, with an average of 10 to 12 hours across the semester.
    • Term: Rolling application review.
