About the role#
The Foundry is the hub for entrepreneurship and student founder advising at the University of Virginia. We are looking for outgoing, articulate team members to join our Community Operations staff. You will act as a representative of our space, gaining behind-the-scenes experience in daily operations, resources, and event support while helping us build a community of innovators.
What you'll do#
- Manage the resource desk and oversee in-person new member intake.
- Maintain equipment, supplies, and facility inventory.
- Assist with the setup and execution of events, workshops, and speaker sessions.
- Provide tours and act as the first point of contact for members and special guests.
- Handle special projects and document community activities as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a UVA student with Federal Work-Study eligibility.
- Strong interest in entrepreneurship, startups, and innovation.
- Comfort in a customer-facing role with clear communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
- Prior experience working within a team environment.
- Majors in Business Administration, Communications, Psychology, or Art are preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Charlottesville, Virginia.
- Modality: On-site only.
- Commitment: Part-time, 10-20 hours per week between 10am and 10pm.
- Flexibility: Schedules are adjusted to accommodate academic commitments, with some weekend work available.
- Compensation: $15.00 per hour.
