About the role#
University Enterprises, Inc. is hiring two student assistants to manage the collection and recycling of cardboard and other materials. You will work in and around the University Union and WELL facilities on the Sacramento State campus. This is a part-time, temporary, and on-site position with a rolling term.
What you'll do#
- Drive a golf cart and trailer to collect cardboard cages and recycling.
- Load cardboard into the bailing machine and create bails.
- Move and stack finished bales.
- Maintain accurate bail logs.
- Ensure all necessary supplies for the bailing process are stocked.
- Report any machinery damage or operational issues to your supervisor.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at Sacramento State with at least 9 units for undergraduates or 6 units for graduates.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs with assistance.
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme heat or cold.
- Valid California Driver's License and proof of automobile insurance.
- Ability to operate machinery and follow oral or written directions in English.
- Previous bailing experience is preferred.
- Pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
Location & details#
- Location: Sacramento, California.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Shifts are available Monday through Saturday. You may work up to 20 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours during breaks.
