About the role#
The California Department of Transportation is hiring a student assistant to work in the Office of Program/Project Management. You will work under the supervision of a Project Manager to learn the fundamentals of project coordination and delivery. This is a part-time, temporary position based in an office environment.
What you'll do#
- Track project resources, milestones, and progress.
- Develop and track project schedules in coordination with other units.
- Serve as a point of contact for internal teams.
- Setup, monitor, and facilitate meetings.
- Attend meetings and provide notes or minutes.
- Update databases and identify potential risks to project deliveries.
What you'll need#
- You must be a college student currently enrolled in classes during the regular term.
- Undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least six-semester units or nine quarter units.
- Graduate students must be enrolled in at least four-semester units or six quarter units.
- You must have a declared major in Business Administration or a closely related field.
- Maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA.
- Preference is given to qualified applicants up to 26 years of age who are, or have been, a dependent child in foster care, a homeless youth, a formerly incarcerated youth, or a victim of human trafficking.
Location & details#
- Location: Oakland, California.
- Work schedule: Flexible hours between 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Hours: Up to 24 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during academic breaks.
- Pay: $18.27 to $24.62 per hour.
- Residency: You must live and work in the state of California for the duration of your employment.
