About the role#
The University Union at Sacramento State is hiring a Student Assistant to serve as an Event Supervisor. This role supports event management for the Ballroom, Redwood Room, and Hinde Auditorium. You will work directly with event sponsors to ensure equipment is ready and rooms are set up to meet their needs. This position involves monitoring events as they happen, ensuring compliance with policies, and maintaining the security of all equipment and furnishings.
What you'll do#
- Manage event spaces before and during scheduled activities.
- Provide lead direction to the Ballroom set up staff to ensure instructions are followed.
- Monitor sound levels, lighting, and room conditions throughout events.
- Coordinate with catering supervisors to maintain service levels.
- Secure all audio-visual equipment and room furnishings after events conclude.
- Provide feedback to Event Services staff and support general building operations.
What you'll need#
- Prior supervisory experience or extensive experience in a leadership role.
- Ability to lead peers while working alongside them.
- Capacity to work a varied schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Knowledge of safe working practices and equipment safety guidelines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks like standing, walking, and kneeling for extended periods.
- Current enrollment at Sacramento State with a minimum of nine units for undergraduates or six units for graduate students.

- Location: Sacramento, California.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Employment Type: Part-time, temporary, non-benefited student position.
- Schedule: Shifts are available Monday through Sunday. You may work up to 20 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours during breaks.
