About the role#
The Creative Team at the Department of Industrial Relations is looking for a Graphic Design Student Assistant. This role supports the production of visual content for print and digital media. You will work with a team of professionals to develop creative concepts and manage project workflows. This is a part-time, temporary position that requires you to reside and work within California.
What you'll do#
- Create graphics for print and digital formats, including flyers, posters, and social media content.
- Edit digital content while ensuring it meets branding and ADA accessibility standards.
- Collaborate on brainstorming sessions and participate in design reviews.
- Manage project timelines using tools like Asana, ServiceNow, and SharePoint.
- Monitor the external branding email for incoming requests.
- Conduct research and data entry for campaign collateral.
- Organize and archive project files to ensure they are properly exported for print or digital use.
What you'll need#
- Proof of enrollment as a student in an appropriate college or university program.
- A strong creative portfolio or samples of your graphic design work.
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of typography, layout, color theory, image resolution, and accessibility standards.
- Ability to follow branding guidelines while producing creative designs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as ServiceNow, SharePoint, and Asana.
- Attention to detail and a structured approach to problem-solving.
Location & details#
- Location: Sacramento, California.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Flexible hours between 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Compensation: $18.27 to $33.52 per hour.
