About the role#
This position supports the Information Technology Infrastructure Branch at the California Department of Motor Vehicles. You will work with teams focused on network, cloud, infrastructure, database, and service desk operations. This role offers hands-on experience with technical troubleshooting, project coordination, and industry practices in a professional environment.
What you'll do#
- Support network, cloud, infrastructure, database, and service desk operations.
- Perform incident tracking, reporting, and resolution processes.
- Assist with documentation, record-keeping, and process tracking.
- Analyze and diagnose operational challenges related to connectivity and system performance.
- Assist with account provisioning and access management for cloud-based services.
- Support deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of cloud and infrastructure environments.
- Respond to customer inquiries and service requests.
- Document technical procedures for knowledge-sharing platforms.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college student at an accredited institution.
- Enrollment in at least six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduate students.
- A declared major in Computer Science.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with stakeholders.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Python, NodeJS, and Terraform is preferred.
- Experience with Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform is preferred.
Location & details#
- This is a remote position based out of Sacramento, California.
- Employees must reside and work in California throughout the course of employment.
- Work schedule is flexible, Monday through Friday, between 8 AM and 5 PM.
- Compensation ranges from $16.90 to $21.13 per hour.
- Students generally work up to 24 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours during breaks.
