About the role#
University Enterprises, Inc. is hiring two Student Assistants to support the Communications Division at the California Public Utilities Commission. This part-time, on-site role involves analytical work, regulatory support, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. You will work under the supervision of project managers and technical staff to assist with various consultative assignments.
What you'll do#
- Monitor and process electronically submitted Advice Letters from communications providers.
- Maintain and update tracking systems to ensure accurate and consistent document processing.
- Contact service providers to resolve issues regarding service quality, resiliency, and Advice Letter filings.
- Draft proposals and resolutions to support the Office of Information Resources, Proposed Decisions, and Eligible Telecommunications Carrier applications.
- Facilitate workshops, briefings, stakeholder meetings, and conferences.
- Prepare reports and correspondence for Commissioners, management, and other stakeholders.
- Analyze data related to major service outages and network operations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited college or university in a relevant major, including Business Administration, Economics, Communications, Political Science, or Electrical Engineering.
- Undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least six-semester units or nine-quarter units. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least four-semester units or six-quarter units.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel, and virtual meeting platforms like Zoom.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to reason logically and use various analytical techniques to solve problems.
Location & details#
- Location: Sacramento, California.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, between 8 AM and 5 PM.
- Compensation: $18.50 to $25.50 per hour.
- Status: Part-time, temporary, non-benefited position.
