About the role#
This internship at ABC11 offers students a chance to work in a local newsroom. You will observe how stories move from the anchor desk to screens across multiple platforms. This position is designed for those interested in broadcast journalism, digital media, and multimedia storytelling.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to real-time news coverage across all platforms.
- Work directly with anchors and digital producers.
- Assist in the production of news stories.
- Create original content.
- Engage with our audience on social networks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university, with a preference for junior or senior undergraduate students.
- Coursework or a major in Broadcast Journalism, Digital Media, Communications, or a related field.
- Experience in journalism, television, or new media production.
- Proficiency with non-linear editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, or Final Cut Pro.
- Skills in graphic design software such as Canva or Adobe Photoshop.
- Experience capturing photo or video content with DSLR or similar camera equipment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- You must be at least 18 years old and possess unrestricted work authorization.
- A portfolio or reel is required for your application to be considered. Please include a link on your resume.
Location & details#
- The role is located in Durham, North Carolina.
- This is a paid, part-time internship at $20.00 per hour.
- You must be available from January 2027 through June 2027.
- The schedule requires 18 hours per week and may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- You must provide your own housing in the Raleigh/Durham area and have reliable transportation to and from work.
