About the role#
The Structural Engineer Co-Op or Intern will support site operations through a combination of fieldwork and office-based project coordination. This role provides hands-on experience in structural inspection, asset analysis, and maintenance planning within an industrial mining environment. You will work alongside professionals to support site integrity and reliability.
What you'll do#
- Support on-site structural inspections, assessments, and analysis to identify maintenance needs.
- Assist in developing practical solutions to support site integrity and reliability.
- Review inspection reports and help prepare technical documentation and drawings.
- Maintain and update structural databases and tracking tools.
- Coordinate with operations teams and construction crews to support project execution.
- Participate in asset walkdowns to assess equipment and structural conditions.
- Review and audit Walking Working Surfaces inspections and repairs to ensure quality.
What you'll need#
- Sophomore level or above by May 2027 pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 2.75 GPA.
- TWIC Card or the ability to obtain one.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license for travel between sites.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work in an industrial chemical and mining environment, including occasional outdoor work with exposure to varying temperatures.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 25 pounds and climbing stairs.
Location & details#
- Location: Tampa, Florida (FishHawk site in Lithia).
- Term: Summer 2027 (May 10, 2027, to August 20, 2027).
- Work Modality: On-site, full-time (36-40 hours per week).
- Compensation: This is a paid position.
