About the role#
The Applied Process Technology (APT) Engineer Co-Op/Intern will support the innovation portfolio across the global business. This role provides exposure to new product development, pilot plant design, new technology design, and chemical processing. You will work on-site at the FishHawk site in Lithia, Florida, with the potential for travel to other Florida locations.
What you'll do#
- Lead engineering projects and improvement activities related to mining and concentrate processes.
- Conduct feasibility studies on new technologies to identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Participate in and direct research activities in both laboratory and full-scale industrial operations.
- Engage with personnel across the organization, including management, plant operators, engineers, tradespersons, and contractors.
- Attend department and project-specific meetings to share learnings and build collaborative networks.
What you'll need#
- Junior level standing or above by January/May 2027, pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Mining, or Industrial Engineering.
- A minimum GPA of 2.75.
- Ability to function effectively in an industrial chemical and mining environment.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Basic computer skills and experience working in a team environment.
- Preferred: 1-2 years of experience through volunteering, student organizations, or previous work, including prior internship or co-op experience.
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds, climb stairs, work at various heights, and wear a respirator.
Location & details#
- Location: Tampa (Lithia area), Florida.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May 10, 2027, to August 20, 2027).
- Modality: Full-time, on-site, 36-40 hours per week.
- Compensation: This is a paid position.
- Requirements: Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. Selection is contingent upon successfully completing a background check, drug and alcohol screening, physical, and functional capacity examination.
