About the role#
The Respiratory Extern in the Float Pool works under the direction of a Respiratory Therapist to support patient care and equipment management. This role involves rotating shifts to assist with various hospital tasks and providing comfort to patients during their stay.
What you'll do#
- Assemble, transport, disinfect, calibrate, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment.
- Maintain appropriate levels of equipment across different work areas.
- Assist Respiratory Therapists with procedures and assigned tasks.
- Provide direct assistance and comfort to patients.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
- BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
- Previous experience with the assembly and cleaning of respiratory equipment.
- Preference is given to 2nd year Respiratory Therapy students with previous healthcare experience.
- Requirement to obtain ACLS and PALS certifications prior to graduation.

- The role is on-site and per diem with rotating shifts.
