About the role#
The Radiology Student Extern works under the direct supervision of a registered imaging technologist. This role focuses on performing tasks and procedures related to the imaging process that have been learned in a classroom setting and practiced during clinical rotations.
What you'll do#
- Assist technologists with imaging procedures and position patients for X-Ray exams according to department protocols.
- Prepare written documentation of a patient's history regarding their illness or injury within the radiology course of care.
- Ensure the cleanliness, orderliness, and proper function of equipment in work areas.
- Adhere to established departmental policies, procedures, quality assurance programs, and safety standards.
- Transport patients as necessary and collaborate with radiologists to support department operations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student in an accredited school of Radiologic Technology, or status as a recent graduate.
- Valid BLS certification.
- Computer skills for working with PACS digital imaging systems.
