Vascular Student Extern

About the role#

The Vascular Student Extern works under the direct supervision of a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) to assist with non-invasive vascular diagnostic procedures, including carotid duplex, venous reflux, and arterial studies. This role focuses on developing clinical competency in a hospital setting.

What you'll do#

• Assist in performing a variety of non-invasive vascular ultrasound procedures.
• Produce clear, undistorted images according to established protocols.
• Identify and visualize necessary anatomy, take measurements, and accurately label structures.
• Recognize normal and abnormal vascular anatomy and physiology, reporting critical values and findings per policy.
• Utilize 2-Dimensional, M-Mode, color flow, and Doppler imaging techniques.
• Ensure correct patient information is recorded on requests, reports, and PACS.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in an accredited Vascular Technology or Diagnostic Medical Sonography program with a vascular concentration.
• American Heart Association BLS CPR certification (must be obtained within 7 days of hire).
• Between 0 and 2 years of experience is preferred.
