Vascular Student Extern

About the role#

As a Vascular Student Extern, you will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) to assist with non-invasive vascular diagnostic procedures. This role is designed to help you develop clinical competency while providing essential support and care to patients throughout their healthcare journey.

What you'll do#

• Assist in performing a variety of non-invasive vascular ultrasound procedures, including carotid duplex, venous reflux, and arterial studies.
• Produce clear, undistorted images according to established protocols.
• Identify and visualize necessary anatomy, take accurate measurements, and correctly label structures.
• Recognize normal and abnormal vascular anatomy and physiology, reporting critical values and findings per policy.
• Utilize imaging techniques including 2-Dimensional, M-Mode, color flow, and Doppler.
• Ensure correct patient information is maintained on requests, reports, and PACS systems.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in an accredited program for Vascular Technology or a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program with a vascular concentration.
• American Heart Association BLS CPR certification (must be obtained within 7 days of hire).
• 0 to 2 years of experience.
