About the role#
The Respiratory Extern in the Float Pool supports patient care by assisting Respiratory Therapists with essential procedures and tasks. Working under the direction of a therapist, you will ensure that respiratory equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and available across various hospital areas.
What you'll do#
- Assemble, transport, disinfect, and calibrate respiratory equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues to ensure operational readiness.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels of respiratory equipment in designated work areas.
- Assist Respiratory Therapists with clinical procedures and daily tasks.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
- BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
- Ability to obtain ACLS and PALS certification prior to graduation.
- Previous experience with the assembly and cleaning of respiratory equipment is required.
- Preference is given to second-year Respiratory Therapy students with prior healthcare experience.
