About the role#
The Respiratory Extern in the Float Pool works under the direction of a Respiratory Therapist to support patient care and equipment management. This per diem role involves rotating shifts and provides hands-on experience within a clinical environment.
What you'll do#
- Assemble, transport, disinfect, calibrate, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels of respiratory equipment across various work areas.
- Assist Respiratory Therapists with assigned procedures and clinical tasks.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
- BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
- Ability to obtain ACLS and PALS certification prior to graduation.
- Previous experience with the assembly and cleaning of respiratory equipment is required.
- Preference is given to second-year Respiratory Therapy students with previous healthcare experience.
