About the role#
Ice Miller LLP is seeking a 2L law student for a 10-week summer associate position within our Intellectual Property practice group. This role focuses on patent prosecution and intellectual property litigation. You will work directly with attorneys and patent agents to build your research, writing, and presentation skills while receiving regular feedback and mentorship.
What you'll do#
- Gain exposure to the Intellectual Property practice group and other firm practice areas.
- Develop professional relationships with attorneys and patent agents.
- Participate in training focused on substantive legal skills.
- Engage in client contact.
- Manage projects and time to meet professional standards.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in the JD class of 2028 at an accredited law school.
- A technical degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or life sciences (including biology, microbiology, or chemistry).
- Eligibility to take the Patent Bar.
- Strong writing and analytical ability.
- Prior work experience, such as legal, military, or service industry roles.
- Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Permanent authorization to work in the United States.

- Locations: Philadelphia, PA and New York, NY.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $4,134 per week for the New York location.
