About the role#
This clinical placement offers students the opportunity to work within a dialysis health care team. You will provide medical nutrition therapy while working under the direct supervision of a registered dietitian. The role focuses on supporting patient care through clinical assessment, diet planning, and education. You will follow company policies and regulatory requirements throughout your internship.
What you'll do#
- Conduct nutrition interviews with patients.
- Calculate diet prescription recommendations.
- Assist the registered dietitian in developing and implementing nutrition plans of care.
- Review monthly nutrition data with patients or their caregivers.
- Practice writing monthly nutrition progress notes.
- Create nutrition-related projects for patients or staff, such as educational handouts, bulletin boards, or lobby activities.
- Attend interdisciplinary team meetings to observe and participate in quality assessment and performance improvement.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics.
- Current enrollment in an accredited Coordinated Program in Dietetics.
- A strong desire to deliver quality patient care.
- Ability to follow compliance regulations and company policies.
- Strong customer service skills when working with patients, staff, and physicians.
