About the role#
This Pharmacist Intern position supports pharmacy quality responsibilities within the Banner Health Insurance Division. You will work under the direct supervision of a pharmacist to assist with medication preparation, distribution, and record keeping. This is a per diem role with a minimum of 8 hours per week, primarily on weekdays, with the potential for additional coverage needs.
What you'll do#
- Assist in preparing compounded and intravenous medications, including total parenteral nutrition and chemotherapy products.
- Perform quality control activities, such as checking pharmacy sections and monitoring equipment maintenance.
- Manage medication inventory by identifying reorder needs and restocking supplies.
- Answer telephones and assist customers, acting as a liaison between them and the pharmacist.
- Enter physician orders into the medication management system and troubleshoot automated dispensing technology.
- Document compounding and repackaging activities accurately.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited school of Pharmacy.
- Current and unrestricted pharmacy intern licensure in Arizona.
- Proficiency with computer software, specifically medication management information systems.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- An Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card is required for employees at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital.
- Relevant coursework in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nursing, Chemistry, Biology, or Public Health.
