About the role#
The Student Nurse Clinical Placement provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a hemodialysis health care team. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse to provide safe and effective dialysis therapy. This role supports the facility's commitment to quality care and patient satisfaction.
What you'll do#
- Set up and operate hemodialysis machines.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
- Escort patients to and from the scale.
- Participate in process improvement activities related to patient satisfaction.
- Attend daily huddles and care plan meetings.
- Perform clinical tasks such as checking vital signs, lab preparation, and surface disinfection.
- Assist with patient care and monitoring under the guidance of a preceptor.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least three quarters of an ADN program, the junior year of a BSN program, or two years of a nursing school program.
- Ability to provide direct patient care, which includes heavy lifting and moving of patients.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a clinical environment with exposure to infectious materials.
- Capability to perform tasks requiring frequent standing, bending, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
