Student Dietitian Clinical Placement

About the role#

This clinical placement offers students the opportunity to function as part of a dialysis health care team. Interns provide medical nutrition therapy under the direct supervision of a registered dietitian, ensuring compliance with corporate, state, and federal regulations while supporting the facility's nutrition care standards.

What you'll do#

• Conduct nutrition interviews with patients and provide counseling on prescribed renal diets.
• Calculate diet prescription recommendations and assist in the development and implementation of nutrition plans.
• Collect data for comprehensive interdisciplinary assessments and practice writing monthly nutrition progress notes.
• Review monthly nutrition data with patients and caregivers.
• Create nutrition-related projects, such as educational handouts or lobby activities, for patients and staff.
• Attend interdisciplinary team meetings, including Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement sessions.

What you'll need#

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics, or current enrollment in an accredited Coordinated Program in Dietetics.
• A strong customer service orientation and a commitment to delivering superior patient care.
• Ability to follow the FMCNA Compliance Program and all facility policies.
