About the role#
The Student Nurse Clinical Placement provides an opportunity to function as part of the hemodialysis health care team. Under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, students assist in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy. This role supports the facility mission and values while adhering to regulatory and company policy requirements. Students gain hands-on experience in a clinical environment, with duties and training intensity scaled based on the duration of the placement.
What you'll do#
- Assist in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy under the visual supervision of a registered nurse.
- Set up and operate hemodialysis machines, including machine tear down and internal disinfection.
- Help maintain a clean and safe working environment by disinfecting stations and performing equipment checks.
- Participate in process improvement activities and quality enhancement programs to support patient care goals.
- Assist with patient care tasks such as monitoring vital signs, checking blood sugars, and preparing labs.
- Attend care plan meetings, daily huddles, and quality assurance sessions.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least three quarters of an ADN program, the junior year of a BSN program, or two years of a nursing school program.
- Exposure to patient care settings.
- Strong customer service skills and a commitment to delivering superior patient care.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including frequent standing, bending, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to travel between assigned facilities and locations within the community.
