About the role#
As a Nurse Extern in the Stepdown unit, you will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or Clinical Manager. You are responsible for providing direct patient care and support to ensure a positive experience for those in our care. This role requires flexibility in organizing your workload to meet the needs of the department.
What you'll do#
- Provide nursing care and assist with activities of daily living, including hygiene, mobility, and feeding.
- Measure and record vital signs, intake and output, and oxygenation levels.
- Assist with patient bathing, oral care, and skin integrity monitoring.
- Implement fall prevention interventions as directed by the RN.
- Report changes in patient conditions, such as vital signs or level of consciousness, to an RN.
- Apply and remove medical devices like anti-embolism stockings, sequential-compression devices, and Buck's traction as instructed.
- Maintain equipment and report any malfunctions to management.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Current enrollment in an accredited registered nursing program.
- Completion of your first clinical rotation.
- Active CPR certification.
Location & details#
- Location: Tucson, Arizona.
- This is a full-time, paid position.
- The role requires the ability to work variable shifts, including holidays and weekends.
- You must be able to perform physical duties, such as lifting and transferring patients, using proper body mechanics.
