About the role#
The Nurse Extern role provides clinical experience for nursing students. You will assist Registered Nursing staff by performing patient care activities, including planning, implementation, observation, and evaluation. This position supports the Ortho department.
What you'll do#
- Check patient blood sugar levels and document results as ordered.
- Obtain vital signs based on the patient's age and condition.
- Report abnormal findings or changes in a patient's condition to the attending or charge nurse.
- Perform patient interventions within your scope of practice.
- Demonstrate age-specific competency for the patient population.
- Provide treatment during emergency situations, such as codes or patient falls.
- Perform other related duties as required.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Enrollment in an accredited professional RN nursing program with at least one completed clinical rotation.
- American Heart Association BLS CPR certification (must be obtained within 7 days of hire).
