About the role#
As a Nurse Extern at Nacogdoches Medical Center, you will provide essential assistance and comfort to patients. You will work within general nursing units, special care areas, maternal child units, or the emergency unit to support the clinical staff. This is a paid, full-time position that offers a chance to gain hands-on experience in a hospital setting.
What you'll do#
- Assist in providing basic and intermediate nursing care to an assigned group of patients.
- Complete established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period.
- Provide essential assistance and comfort to patients to support their healthcare experience.
- Work at least eight hours per week, with shifts available in 4, 8, 10, or 12-hour increments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited nursing school.
- Completion of the 3rd or 4th semester of your nursing program.
- Successful completion of a basic clinical skills lab.
- BLS certification (or ability to complete it within three months of employment).
