About the role#
The Nurse Extern I program at Saint Francis Hospital offers nursing students a chance to gain clinical experience. You will start your externship on a Medical-Surgical unit. This program helps you build skills and prepare for your future as a Registered Nurse. You will work under the guidance of our nursing teams, following the scope defined by the State Board of Nursing.
What you'll do#
- Assist nursing staff with daily patient care activities.
- Help patients with hygiene, mobility, and comfort measures.
- Support nurses during patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Keep the patient environment clean and organized.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to support patient outcomes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program.
- Successful completion of Fundamentals of Nursing.
- Availability to attend the mandatory New Hire Orientation on October 9, 2026.
- An updated resume and an unofficial nursing school transcript verifying your course completion.
Location & details#
- Location: Memphis, Tennessee.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Schedule: A minimum of two 12-hour shifts per month, based on departmental needs and your availability.
- This is a paid, part-time position.
