About the role#
As a Nurse Extern II in Cardiac Telemetry, you will work under the observation of a Registered Nurse to gain hands-on clinical experience. This role is designed for nursing students who are preparing for their professional careers. You will work one 8-hour shift per week, with shifts varying across days, PMs, and NOCs.
What you'll do#
- Assist with activities of daily living, vital sign completion, and blood glucose monitoring.
- Collaborate with the Registered Nurse to establish patient care plans based on health, education, and developmental needs.
- Evaluate patient responses to interventions and communicate observations to the nursing team.
- Administer medication as delegated by the Registered Nurse once clinical judgment and skill proficiency are evaluated.
- Perform patient positioning and transport duties, including lifting and moving patients using proper techniques.
- Manage patient care tasks and practice time management within your shift routine.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program.
- Successful completion of a Medical Surgical Clinical course.
- Successful completion of a Pharmacological Concepts course.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing or pulling with 30 pounds of force, and standing or walking for the duration of a shift.
- Ability to work in environments with potential exposure to blood, body fluids, and other clinical hazards.

- Location: Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Greenbrier Rd, Aurora, Wisconsin.
- Schedule: One 8-hour shift per week.
- Status: Paid internship.
