About the role#
This is a part-time MRI Extern position at Aurora St. Lukes Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. You will work under the direct supervision of a State of Wisconsin licensed technologist to support the operation of magnetic resonance equipment. This role involves performing diagnostic procedures, including musculoskeletal, neurological, and orthopedic imaging.
What you'll do#
- Obtain medical history from patients and verify requisitions against physician orders.
- Prepare and administer contrast media.
- Position patients and select appropriate scanning factors to capture quality images.
- Provide magnet protection and safety oversight.
- Post-process, identify, and label images.
- Maintain records and enter study information into the radiology information system.
- Document billing codes for performed procedures.
- Perform equipment quality assurance tests and report any performance issues or malfunctions.
- Assist with patient transport and positioning, which includes lifting and moving patients.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association (AHA), to be obtained within 6 months.
- Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and magnetic safety.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs, pushing or pulling with 30 lbs of force, and sliding transfers.
